Grace Copper

From the Chairman

I am unsure even now whether it is appropriate to write something so soon after the news this week of the death of our friend and Musical Director Grace Copper.

Grace joined us only a few years ago and yet it feels now as if she had been with us since the early days of the Verwood Pantomime Society. Her cheery smile but firmness when we were not trying hard enough will be remembered forever.

She would be surprised how many caring calls and messages we have had since I sent my email to everyone on Wednesday but they are all full of disbelief and sadness and show she was very loved by everyone. The thoughts of us all are with George and their family.

My personal overriding memory of Grace will be of a real lady, dressed elegantly in black with just a hint of sparkly jewellery leading her orchestra into the theatre before the start of each show and who made the most delicious cakes for the dressing room.

You will be sadly missed lovely lady.
