Hi Richard
What a great day, Tom is the man hats off to him what a good teacher, very thorough and safety paramount.
Will be in touch for my Direct Access, many thanks to Lets-Ride for taking me through my CBT test.
Regards
Derek |
Rich,
I got off that yamaha on 7th July at Poole test centre with my mod2 pass and the next time I got on a bike was a Susie DR650 in Australia on the 17 August. 5,000 kilometers (2,000kms on bitumen, 2,300 on dirt and 700 on sand), 12 days camping under the stars, frost at night 35 degrees in the day, 1100 sand dunes and a number of "offs" later; I had my most extreme bike lesson yet! Thanks for your patience and cool headed training before I went. I'll gladly bore you senseless with the photos some-time. I even remembered to cancel my indicators nearly every time!

hi Richard,
i just wanted to say thank you to Tom for being so professional, and yet really friendly on my cbt... he managed to put us all at our ease, and made the day enjoyable and a pleasure to learn in...
many thanks

Without doubt the best bike instructor in the area. Patient, relaxed, calm and really knows his stuff. Got me, a non rider (car driver) through CBT and both bike tests passed in less than a fortnight from booking. Learner bikes have recently been replaced and are lovely to ride. Many many thanks Richard!

Dear Richard,
Thank you so much (and your team) for helping Simon to achieve his CBT pass. He has had a difficult climb in life and is now getting the chance to expand and grow despite his difficulties. He was a very proud, if worn out, bloke at the end of the day and it has been a brilliant experience for him. We appreciate your professional training and friendly approach.
Thank you again
Regards
Steve
(and Simon) |
Thank you for a wonderful day Tom. I found your instruction to be very imformative as well as fun. You gave me all the confidence I needed to get my CBT again. I went out last night on my new Tweet for a big ride taking in Sandbanks ferry, Studland, Corfe Castle, Wareham, St Peter's Finger at Lytchett Minster and home again to Poole which only took a short while. I hope to be in touch shortly in order to progress my training with yourself and Richard.
Thank you once again.

Richard
Just some feedback from my CBT on Saturday. Tom (I think- not great with names) was excellent. I have done the CBT before and this one was more informative and fun. I came away with confidence as to how to ride, and that is completely down to the teacher.
many thanks for an excellent day- I will see you in due course for my A1

Hi Richard,
Would just like to say thanks for all the help and for getting me to pass my mods 1 & 2 first time!!
Cheers

Hi, just would like to say thanks to Tom for getting me through my CBT at the weekend...riding a motorbike is something I never thought I’d ever do, so passing it was a huge achievement for me.
Tom was the ideal instructor, very patient, knowledgeable, easily explained what I needed to do, and didn’t make me feel under par when I didn’t quite get things right....it makes a big difference to someone’s confidence how things are put, and Tom certainly made me feel at ease, as much as I could have been on what seemed to be the hottest day on history making me feel hot and flustered enough. Lol
Thanks very much for a good day, and I certainly know where to come when I feel confident enough to go for my full bike licence, although I have a way to go before that, just lots of practice on my own bike!
Thanks again....Alison |
Hi Richard
Just thought I would drop you a quick email to let you know what a fantastic instrutor Tom is! He maintains his calmness, explain things clearly and makes you think about what you're doing without flustering you. He really is a super trainer! We both really enjoyed our day and Alice has already ridden over to her friends on her moped!!
Thanks so much to both you and Tom and I look forward to meeting you again when I do my full licence!
Best wishes
Andrea & Alice |
| Richard, today is the 1st aniversary of passing my test. Your professionalism and superb tuition has served me well and thanks to you I've had 12 months of safe and enjoyable riding. To anyone considering taking lessons, quite simply, you will not find a better instructor. Well done mate, keep up the good work! Mark |
I did my CBT with Richard a while ago, and I have to say, it was made an enjoyable experience with good tuition, I was very nervous when I first sat on the bike, but by the end of the training I was filled with confidence. I am now riding a Honda CBR 125 and hoping to book my full test with Richard soon :)
Alex |
Richard is a brilliant instructor and a lovely guy! He kept me at ease throughout all my training and gave me the confidence to succeed!
I passed Mod 1 and 2 first time, and would not hesitate in recommending Richard to anyone who wishes to learn to ride.I never dreamt that I would be riding a 650cc at such a young age, and couldn't have done it without Richard's calm tuition and sense of humour.
Thank you and I hope to see you at bike night or out on the road in the not too distant future :-D
Summer |
What a legend of an instructor, mod 1 passed first time, mod 2 passed first time despite having to go from poole to Lee on Solent, i even got a cup of coffee out of it! 100% A* instructor top class and the next x factor winner
Thanks again Richard and anyone wandering about him book up now and you won't regret it i can promise you

If you are fairly close to the Wimborne/Poole area and are still undecided on where to recieve motorcycle tuition then do not hesitate to give these guys a buzz. My friend organised our CBT's and I was really pleasantly suprised to find that our Instructor Richard was patient, clear and funny to boot. He made the whole learning experience simple and any worries I had, had quickly disappeared. I really enjoyed the day. We even were finished earlier than I had anticipated. However, it was reassuring to know that there was further time if we needed it. Unlike my friend, I had not really ridden before and and I recieved an extra fifteen minutes on the bike to ensure I could cancel my indicators immediately after making a turn. Quite rightly, I was not going to be given a certificate until deemed safe!
Richard, you will be pleased to know that I'm pretty quick to cancel my indicators on my mtx 125 now and look forward to booking a full course with you sometime in the not to distant future.
Thanks again
Ben |
Just wanted to say thank you for getting me through my tests. Also thanks for being flexible when I had to go to Lee on Solent as well as, always making sure I had my favourite yellow bike. You only have good students if you have a good Teacher. Note to all: Listen to Richard's instructions, you will pass if you do.
Thanks again Sifu Richard, I'm now enjoying my Z750. See you on the roads.
Cheers

Hi Richard
Just wanted to say a big THANK YOU for yesterday.
The training was top class and I can't believe that I actually rode a motorbike on the Wessex Way!
I promise I will do my best to cancel my indicators and stop before the white lines!
Hopefully will be in touch springtime next year to commence battle on the next stages.
Until then all the best,
Jonathan |
| Thanks to Richard I now own and ride a beautiful motorbike. Im so grateful to Richard for all his patience through out my motorbike training. He always made me feel comfortable and relaxed and really helped me come over any fears that I had - including turning right!I would thouroughly recommend rider training with Richard to everyone. Rachel. |
How Richard converted a 50 year old nervous wreck provisional driving licence holder into a passed his CBT certificate holder God only knows! Patience must be his middle name! My new middle name is "TURN!!"
I can't thank you enough Richard for giving me confidence and changing my life.
Cheers mate
Mark |
I chose Lets Ride to do my DAS training because of their no-nonsense website,(no ridiculous claims about 98% pass rates),(although i now think they probably have that much success!)and boy am i glad i did! I passed both modules at my first attempt with only 3 minors in total, and enjoyed every minute of it!(and it didn't cost me a fortune)
Thanks again Richard.
Alan from shaftesbury. |
Thanks very much for getting me through my CBT. Without your calm cheery instruction there is no way that I would have got through.
Thanks again.
Bill |
Hi Richard,
What a day yesterday, the weather was horrific, however I had a great time. After an awful experience with another instructor from a cowboy riding school, who shall remain anon,I really didn't think I would pass the CBT. I found you very professional and patient throughout,a hint of good humour here and there mixed with consistant praise towards your pupils.I would definatly say you found your vocation in life, what a great instructor, I would definitely recommend you to friends and family.Look forward to booking my Direct Access with you in the not too distant future, kindest regards,Sarah. |
Thank you for Harveys tuition yesterday he really enjoyed the experience and would definitely recommend you to his friends.
Regards Julie |
Hi Richard,
Just a quick note to say thank you for playing your part in me getting my full bike license. All lessons were very professional and enjoyable,
Many thanks,
James |
I successfully completed my CBT and my Direct access with Lets Ride. I found Richards instruction to be patient, clear and relevant, mixed with humor and easily understood explanations I was made to feel relaxed and confident throughout. The bikes were well maintained and nice to ride adding to the experience. Thanks to Richards advice and tips I was able to pass my Big bike Mod 1 test with a clean sheet and Passing the Mod 2 road test was a breeze.
I recommend Lets Ride not only as a great school with which to obtain your licence but also to pick up valuable tips on riding safely and confidently.
Thanks again Richard
Matt |
| Hey there,
Just completed my CBT yesterday. What an awesome experience and what a fantastic instructor! Calm, patient and immensely efficient. I'd recommend anyone to do their CBT with Rich he's an A* instructor! Time to practise my U-turns!
Thanks alot!
Josh |
Thanks Richard for some great instruction and getting me through both modules. You taught me to ride safely and also instilled a lot of confidence. Whenever I come up to a junction I can still here your voice in my head which is disturbing but quite useful. It was a lot of fun as well and hopefully I'll bump into you on my new bike, not literally though!
John |
| Thanks for the great lessons, constant calm instruction and getting me through the test first time.
Just picked up my first bike last weekend and enjoying it immensely.
Ben |
Thanks for the quality training
A real pleasure to train for the DAS with Rich and then pass. He has a fantasic approach that puts you at ease immediately - it allows you to get on with the main task of learning how to ride the bike safely. The training was thorough and comprehensive whilst at the same time great fun! I would not hesitate in recommending him for any bike based training.
Thanks Rich for a job well done.
James |
well done to richard!
If you're wondering who to choose to help you through your cbt then this is the place! The pre cbt really made me feel more confident and richards calm talking in my ear through the microphone helped me get over my fear of roundabouts! Very patient and all very enjoyable :) good luck!!

I should have posted this ages ago ...
Richard is awesome. There, I said it. Thanks to him it only took me 2 days to go from a shakey CBT holder to a confident Fully Licenced rider. If only it was as quick as that for me to save up the hard cash for a bigger bike!!! Nothing worse than being legal and still having to ride a 125 due to cashflow lol. Roll on that 1986 Honda VT500 Shadow I've got my eye on...
Seriously though. Very patient and very understanding teacher, highly recommended. \m/
Aki |
Excellent Service from Richard, did a pre-cbt as I could not grasp the concept of changing gear! Got me changing quickly, then some 1 to 1 and a CBT and passed, much better service than the local companies in gosport.
Would deffinately recomend to anyone who wants to take the leap to Bikes :)
Marc |
Training that lasts
Hi Richard and Ed,
I took my CBT and DSA almost exactly 1 year ago. Since then I have covered over 18,000 miles on my Triumph Sprint ST 955i. The lessons Ed gave me in safe riding have kept me well over a heck of a lot of virgin year miles. Top notch guys. I think I might do my advanced test soon. Thanks for making riding fun.
Alan |
A big thank you
Hi Richard just to say a big thank you for a fantastic three days training and test. Still looking for a bike, enjoy your bike tour of Europe.
Best wishes,
Joe |
Thanks
Just passed my test with ed today at Poole test center. Would like to let you know that the training he gave was exceptional and he really put me at ease on the 500cc bike. He never made me feel stupid when I made (numerous) errors and I couldn't have done it without him. All the best. Adam |
Is this the same Richard McPherson????
Can't believe all the guest book comments saying what a top bloke this richard guy is... can't be the same guy i learnt with as he was the most miserable unhelpful sod i have ever met.... ha ha only joking.
despite failing to pass the flipping test as i couldn't do right turns! mental block.. or just plain mental....
I have had more fun in the past 12mnts on a 125 with those darn "L" plates than i thought possible... and this is due to the instruction recieved from Richard and Co.(Paul i think.. the scottish preacher) who helped me pass my CBT in tropical downpour conditions APril 06... still can't ride in the dry... not used to it!!
having moved away from the southcoast i haven't been able to add myself to the list of riders who have passed under Richards guidance but i haven't ruled out coming back for my next attempt... Even changing offices every 6 months can't throw me of the scent.....
Have absolutely no problem in recommending Richard to anyone who wants to learn how to ride, just don't bugger up u-turns or you'll be taught my version of it....
Roy |
indicators!!!
Just wanted to thankyou Richard for your patience and great tuition when doing my standard bike training last month, still cant belive i passed first time, it was the scariest day of my life!!!
i would recomend 'lets ride' to anyone wanting to learn, you have so much patience its not true and i learnt some invaluble lessons.
cheers.
Toni |
Great CBT
Hi Richard,
Thank you for instructing me on my recent CBT, i just wanted to say thanks for being so patient with all those problems with that useless habana (currently being fixed, AGAIN) and if i need any other motorbike tests i will be sure to use lets ride again, with a better bike :)
Thanks Again
Sam |
Can't believe I finally made it! Im officially a rufty tufty biker! Training was fantastic, although Im sure Rich was silently screaming to himself at times. Just the right combination of encouragement when you get it right, and head shaking when you dont... Im now using my "trophy" cracked indicator as a paperslip holder at work! Cant recommend this guy enough! Cheers mate x
Kate |
| Just passed with Rich and his team. Cant express enough how chuffed I am. The whole experience was great with Rich having patients of a saint. Thanks again guy's. Paul |
| Hi richard sorry its taken so long to leave you your perfect 10 out of 10 score for your instruction. Never ridden before. Took my CBT with Richard and then went on to take my test, passed first time with no faults pretty good hey!! Thanks Richard your a great Instructor.
Seprina |
If you can teach me well enough to pass ... even though I've never even ridden a push-bike before ... you can teach anyone!! :-) Really enjoyed myself, even with the bruise! ... Thanks! See you around!!
Vanita |
I took my CBT with another (local) company, and was really not impressed. I found them unnecessarily "macho", impatient and unhelpfull. Richard, on the other hand, was the mirror opposite. Amazing patience, very generous with his time and a pretty chilled spirit, so I never kinda felt pressured if I wasn't getting things (THE BLOODY U-TURN!!!) straight away. Needless to say, I passed, but what I think IS important to say, is that I would not have had the confidence and been relaxed enough to have passed if it hadn't be for his style of teaching. Basically, if you can't pass with Richard and Let's Ride, you might as well buy a push bike. And it just so happens, I have one for sale....
Richard |
Atended a 3 day standard test. Excelent Training to a very high standard, turned me from being useless at u turns and emergency stops to a test standard level. would reccomend to everyone in the whole world, i just reccomended you to my mate so watch out!
Colin |
Attended a 1 day CBT course recently and found both the service and instruction from the Lets-Ride staff immaculate. All in all the day itself was great fun and very pleasant and I would recommend them to anyone. Thank you Lets-Ride, I WILL be back for more
Mike |
| Rich - what can I say, agree with all the other comments, and yes you do make good tea. Thanks for your support, U-turns are easy!
Andrea |
| Richard, many thanks again, great instruction, patience and funny with it! Made my training really enjoyable. Would recommend you to anyone and of course passed 1st time, still can't believe it!!! Ann |
| Echo all of the below ... from never having riden a bike to passing my direct access with 2 minors in only 5 days ... and had a great time along the way!! Will definitely be recommending. Cheers! Ian |
I have come back to biking after 10 years and felt a little unconfident out on the road. A day with Richard on the 'back to biking' regained my confidence, and I learnt a great deal as well..Looking forwards to trying the advanced test next year.. Highly recommend Lets Ride..
Tristan |
